Default Odd nose on acceleration sometimes.

You guys ever come across a 16 f150 coyote thats runs perfectly and is quite. But after driving on hw for a short time and then coming to a stop. Say a red light where you stop for just a sec. Then start to accelerate and hear what sounds like the top end starving for oil or a phaser not locked out maybe. for just a 1-2 seconds. But if you stop and let it idle a min when you accelerate it’s normal. Truck has 170,000 miles on it. Put new cam solenoids in at 114000 miles cause it was stalling. No codes at all replaced oil pressure switch and the oil pressure control solenoid behind the alt. Due to oil pressure on forscan was all over the place but stays steady at 12-15 psi hot idle on 0w20 pen.

Are you sure about when it happens? Sometimes an odd rattle, chatter type noise on acceleration can be the IWE. I assume it is 4x4? If you have 4A, runit there for a few drives.

I was told to try a couple tanks of premium. Did so and problem gone. Mechanic told me it was an octane issue. Won’t hurt he said. So rather than pay $5 a gallon I don’t listen to the rattle and smile at saving $40 bucks a tank. 2020 f-150 lariat 112 k…(love my truck.)

Sorry guys. Trying to type while your 1 and 2 year olds are fighting over who gets to hit a button on your keyboard makes it hard to talk about odd noises vs noses #dadlife#.

I have not thought about the IWE’s being a possible issue…… I will double check that today.

Truck does have an occasional rough idle. Could be vacuum leak causing the IWE to lightly drag right? Most of the time I find myself checking the RPMs to make sure it’s still running. Truck has no codes other than TPMS sensors.

Never noticed it on my 2.7 or 5.0, but on my 5.4 3V, I could definitely hear my phasers as I tipped in the throttle. On the 3V switching to 0W40 made that engine significantly more quiet.

Could it be a heat shield? There’s a clamp on the exhaust crossover below the driver’s seat that’s known to fail. Could this be it?

I did check the clamp but it was also cold to the touch. Ill have to crawl under while it’s hot and double check.
