Default Which OBDII Scanner for FORScan?

I want to get started with an OBDII scanner to learn and run FORScan. I have this one in my Amazon cart:
Amazon Amazon
but would rather be able to do this with my iPad since I don't have an andriod tablet and would rather not use my big clunky work laptop

What are my options? Can iOS even run FORScan?

Thanks...

Did you read the Google doc on the original FORScan post? It answers all your questions:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...gF1wxIqxY/edit

1) I pulled this from the Google document for you. Here's the link to the OBDII scanner they recommend:
Amazon Amazon

2) I'm a Mac user as well, and I purchased a Window's 10 tablet based on the recommendation from the Google Doc as well. (Only $82!)
Amazon Amazon

Hope that helps.

Have you read the Forscan sticky at the top of the page?

There are several posts regarding the adapters. I'd suggest starting there.

FORScan will not work on Apple or Android. You must use a windows laptop, or Mac using VMware or something to run Windows.

As others have suggested. look at the tutorial. It should have all your answers. There is even a link to a very inexpensive laptop if you don't have one.

Ok... So it doesn't work at all with iOS. I guess I missed that in the description. Got it. Thanks

I understand not having time to read the thousands of posts in the thread, but if you thoroughly read just the tutorial, it's enough to get you started. Also, you don't need to be concerned if the OBDII is iOS compatible because you can't run FORscan on your ipad.

For the record, I don't have to tell you that, as a new guy here, these thread are... let's say... a tad overwhelming. With hundreds of pages and thousands of posts, trying to pick out a single bit of info is a huge ask. And a search for OBDII scanner yielded and equally staggering number of threads and posts. I am happy to be a part of the community, but cut me a little slack while I get used to everything here... pretty please?

Sorry buddy, only trying to help you out.

There are many on here that are willing to help you out, but also there are the pessimists and the RTFM guys, so if you are a little thin skinned it may be an adjustment for you. It may seem overwhelming at first but before long, hopefully you wil be posting and helping others as well.

HA! While not the thickest skin by any stretch, I am certainly not new to ForumLand and the butthurt that it causes. Heck, I am a member (and a former admin) of several boating/yachting forums and those guys can be downright and flat-out mean sometimes. Heck, we even use the same exact software It's all good.

I highly recommend this one:

https://www.scantool.net/obdlink-mxb...FU48gQodvToE2Q

Yes it costs more but it WORKS! Don't waste your time with those cheap Chinese Elm327 clones on Amazon. They are flaky

You can often find coupons to use on scantool.net and you won't be able to use them on Amazon.
