Default OBDII adapter

I have reason to believe the Bafx bluetooth adapter I've been using with Torque Pro has a fault of it's own. Last week I got a strange notice that something was shut down to save the battery and yesterday I started up to no dash, center display or front door windows operating. After a couple starts the dash & windows functioned with a wrench on the dash and a notice to consult the owners manual. Then I found the buttons on the steering wheel wouldn't turn on cruise control. I stopped in at Advance Auto on the way to ask them to check for a DTC. I pulled the Bafx out so he could plug in, turned on the key and the DTC cleared, no codes. I tried the cruise control with no problem. This morning I plugged it in again out of curiosity and found it will not communicate with either of 2 Android phones. I'm calling it toast and a candidate for the bin.
Now my dilemma is I need another Bluetooth adapter. I've been out of touch with current offerings. The links on the Forscan page are so old they don't work. The cost of some of these has gone through the roof and I really can't find much in the way of guidance. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have the BlueDriver OBD Bluetooth Scanner but have only used it with the BlueDriver Android app. I haven't tried it with Forscan. I still also have my wired OBD device for use with Forscan.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. OBDLink MX+ & BlueDriver are too expensive. I really can't believe how spendy these things got in the last few years, It's still the same Chinese made stuff. That's the reason I'm reluctant to go with a lower cost adapter, not knowing just what I'm getting. I have Torque Pro on my tablet & an old Android phone that I use as a secondary gauge set. For linking with Forscan I have a hard wired USB adapter.

Consider it another tool in your tool chest to justify the cost. The same could be said about wrenches, power tools, etc, but after having to replace the cheap ones many times due to failures, most will buy a decent tool for the job.

If you're set on another cheaper adapter, anything on Amazon that meets the connection criteria for the apps your using would probably work.

Agreed. It will pay for itself in time. Also, that BlueDriver had a $20 off discount when I posted too. I use mine to help out friends when they need to check for codes and sometimes they pay me back with beer other times cash moneys. LOL

This is one of many times it is better to pay a bit more up front, than buy multiple cheap items and fight the issues you get from cheap hardware. My adapter is tucked up inside my dash, has been for years with zero worries.
