Default O2 Sensor

Dealer wanted $600 to replace the upstream sensor on Bank 1. Just the one sensor!

I replaced bank 1 upstream sensor on my 2010 4.6, it was less than $59 from Rock Auto.

Depending on your location and mileage, extended emissions warranty might cover your oxygen sensor.

Waaay toooo much for that. If you can't do it yourself, find another shop. Its an easy job and shouldn't take very long, including testing after R&R.

If you don't already have one, buy the correct wrench to fit the sensor so you don't damage the new one installing it.

You'll definitely want the proper wrench. I would also suggest a Blue/Yellow Wrench (torch) - a little heat can help, especially if it's been in there a while.

Most mechanics recommend replacing the sensors in pairs, FYI.

$150 for two OEM sensors, $48 for spark plugs. 2 1/2 hours of time for my buddy and I. Saved $600 by walking away from dealer.

Okay I'm not trying to give the dealer's a hard time really. But in what universe does a $100 sensor and one hour labor add up to $600?

I think AutoZone likely has an O2 Sensor Socket for loan if you don't want to buy one.
