Default Noob Question

Been lurking here a while. First post. Just bought a 2015 Lariat and am still trying to figure out the myriad of options. While the owner's manual is not the easiest thing to navigate, this forum answers way more questions. Which brings me to my noob question. In the front of the center console, above the usb and sd card slot, there is a bright white light that I cannot figure out how to turn off. Every other light inside this truck is soft and subdued except this one. I hate to think that I have to take it out or put something over it. There has to be a switch or setting somewhere. Thank you in advance. Great forum!

If you close the door the light goes off. Like a refrigerator.

^^^ Correct. If you are going to leave the cover open you'll have to put a piece of electrical tape over it (the light)....

Just got my (new to me) 2015 last month... this same thing bothers me.
The light actually reflects off of the rear window and shows up in the rear view mirror.

Apparently something they fixed for 2016/2017? My buddy's 2017 platinum has a different light in there and doesn't do that.

I think a small post-it note, or a piece of electrical tape would screen that light enough that it might fix the issue, though I haven't done this yet myself.

That light is the worst... I hate having to open that door when driving on a dark highway. I really wish they would have put the light on the back side of the compartment instead of the front... Or at least make it dim with the dash lights.

Plus, if you leave that compartment open all the time, that light will never turn off! It stays on forever. I noticed this while camping when I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and saw a light inside my truck. It was that compartment light because the door was open....

Forgot to mention... You might not know, but there's a sliding door that covers that compartment. Just push the front lid forward and it'll click, and the door will close over it, and the light will turn off.

Here's the door mostly closed, it slides forward

Thanks for the responses. My wife actually found the door. I think she found out about in something called an "Owner's Manual".
