Default Noob question

I wrote my intro in an earlier post and included my potential build with follow on questions. Thank you to all that responded.

I now have another question that I'm hoping to get some clarity on, it's with respect to gear ratio options, specifically on a Platinum.

I am being told that you cannot get 3:73s on a Platinum because the HD Payload Pkg is not an option on the Platinum and therefore 3:73s aren't available, unless I go with a different model (Lariat, XLT, etc).

Can someone confirm or deny this, please. Not sure if the dealer is reading something wrong or he's right and I missed something.

Thanks!

6.

3.73s are available on platinums as members on here have trucks speced that way. I think however engine choice might be a factor. All the plats I've seen with 3.73s have been 5.0L V8s.

I also just ordered a Lariat 5.0 with 3.73s and no hd payload package.

I spec'd mine with a 5.0/V8, so unless someone knows how to make that work, I'm at 3:55s.

When I went back on USAAs site and selected HD Payload, Platinums no longer showed as available. However if I don't select HD Payload, the 3:73 pops up as a stand alone option.

I looked at order guide and Platinums weren't shown as option "available" on the HD Payload. From what I'm gathering, the HD Payload is a requirement for the 3:73s.

Again, looking for some clarity on this one.

Thanks!

Look at this member's build. (In his sig)

You may need fx4 I don't know. But it is possible.

Are you building a 4x4 or 4x2? I just did a 5.0 4x4 and had the option of the 3:73 axle. When I did one that was a 4x2 that wasn't an available option. If you build a 4x4 with the Ecoboost V6 3:73 is not available either...

Very familiar with this members build. I spec'd the Platinum with 5.0/V8 and the FX4...but the gears appear to be the sticking point.

Is there any way to order on the phone or in person with USAA? I've never used it but it could be a bug in the website not letting you order it that way. On fords build and price you can add the gears you want to the platinum.
