Default Noisy tailgate

I recently installed the Ford tailgate damper on my 2017.

Ever since then, the tailgate is making an awful lot of noise (squeaking/chirping) as I go on down the road.
Is there a way to "tighten up" or adjust the tailgate to make it quiet again?
The noise is coming from where the tailgate latches to the bed.

Mine did the same thing. I sprayed a film of white lithium grease on all the movable parts where the tailgate connects to the truck. The rubber bump stops where making small squeaking noises when they rubbed against the tailgate as well.

Cool...thanks.
Would something like Liquid Wrench spray lubricant work too?

Possibly. I used grease because it's a bit thicker and it'll stay in place better with vibration, splashing water, etc.

Check the alignment of the plate that you reinstalled on the passenger side. After I installed my damper, i didn't realize I had a misaligned bumper for awhile. If yours is squeaking now it may be due to the alignment being off (mine was obvious when I looked at the gap over the bumper, and also when open one of the wire supports was slack and the other one tight).

What Fred said! I recently installed the damper and misaligned the install and the tailgate wouldn't shut properly, misaligned. I loosened it and made sure it was in the 'factory' spot denoted by the paint markings and the dust edges. It's been perfect ever since.

I hit the pin and latch with a little WD40 last night and it's quiet again, for now.
I will get a can of white lithium next time I'm at the parts store since the WD40 will probably wash away after a bit.
