Default noisy engine

We have a 2018 5 liter f150, just after we got it the engine started making a knocking noise. Now it also makes noises on deceleration and popping noise when starting, stopping, or changing gears. Ford dealer says it is normal and will not cause damage. what can we do?

Did they check to make sure the PCM has the latest calibration?

I had a lot of noise and concerns with my 2018 5.0 that i bought 2 months ago. Ended up trading it in for a new 2019 2.7 2 weeks ago. The 2.7 is so quiet and smooth, it's like a different trcuk compared to the one i had. The knocking sound could be the dreaded bbq tick or typewriter tick, you can look it up on youtube and find a lot of videos on it. I made 3 videos myself on the tick. The noise on deceleration doesn't go away, it's there regardless of what they do. The PCM update does smoothed out the transmission and shifting. Definitely go into another dealer and bring your SSM and TSBs with you. Also keep an eye on the oil because mine looked like it was consuming it.

Well after trying for months to get the selling dealer to fix the noises our 2018 5.0 was makingwe went to another dealer. Guess what? They fixed it the first time plus the sunroof rattle.
We are finally enjoying our new truck.
Why will Ford not get after the poor service dealers?
Anyway, happy with the truck.

I've said this a thousand times.. might as well make it a thousand and one.

For all OEM's, (some) Dealers ruin the buying experience for the customers and of course it's the OEM (in this case Ford) that takes the blame.

I agree OP, why they don't police/check on a lot of these dealers more to confirm the quality of service doesn't make sense. Yes, the dealers are independent of Ford themselves it still doesn't mean they shouldn't be monitoring them better. Seems like the answer to half of the folks problems here is to "find another dealer".

A very good friend of mine is the sales manager at the largest dealership in our area, he told me straight up, don't bring your truck here for service or warranty issues, take it to this other dealership.

It's funny because I already knew the other dealership he was referring to has an awesome service department.

I agree, it's rediculous how a bad service/sales department can screw up the experience of a brand for someone, it sucks

May I ask what they did to fix the engine noise? Trying to get mine fixed to no avail. Thanks

Default Decell rattle etc.

They said they changed the phaser solenoid. Now we are getting the sounds back at the same time the transmission acts differently. Also getting hard downshifts when breaking quickly.
will be talking to the new dealer in a few days. Right now we have a new grandbaby coming today. Busy😄

If you have a.poor experience with your dealer fill out the survey. Ford will take care of the problem they don't want bad reviews or poor dealerships
