New Truck Performance is Ridiculous
Some of you may be old enough to remember when 0-60 in under 10 seconds was the domain of serious performance cars (Corvette, Porsche etc).
Today we had some time at the dealer waiting on a Buddies F150 Trans Recall to be checked. He has a Gtech Pro RR(?) that has proven to be pretty accurate so we decided to play.
2018 F150 XL 4x2
RCSB 3.3L 3.55
101A Chrome Package
53B Hitch Package
Average 0-60 6.5 Seconds.
Buddy drove since he is lighter.
I can't vouch for absolute accuracy but still is that ridiculous or what?
Guess it helps to be 1000 lb lighter than my Supercrew 302A 4x4 3.5EB.

Ive had my 3.5 for 7 months now and she still surprises me when i giver. I wouldve never thought a stock truck could be this quick
Same, i own the EB too. Its a monster of a motor but i cant call it the ecobeast without a slight cringe

I've been telling people this since I bought my 2015 3,5 EB, was amazed at how snappy these things are.
I was a 70's teenager, in what some would call the prime of the Detroit muscle car years.
I drove more than a few, my buddy had a '69 Shelby GT350, he was 2nd owner, paid $3300 for it in '77. My cousin had a Vette with the 454 in it.
In straight line acceleration my F150 would leave them both in the dust, along with the 454 aluminum block El Camino's, Dodge chargers etc.
I wish my buddy would have kept his Shelby though, and so does he..
For a bit of trivia - if I recall correctly a 0-60 time for the big block 'vette was about 7.2 seconds, while I think the Porsche 911 came in just under that around 6.9 seconds. I used to read Car & Driver, Road & Track religiously back then.

All the F150 engine choices are great. There really isn't a bad one in the bunch. Performance is pretty amazing for a 5000lb brick, no matter what's under the hood.

I'm surprised what a good motor the 3.5 NA is. Mine is RCLB, 4x4 ,6 spd, 3.73. It's actually pretty quick. Getting 20 MPG.
Still nowhere close the 2.7 EB 93 Perf 5 Star tune....which is a beast. Gets 20 MPG too.
