You can expect 10k or more off msrp on 16s right now. There's no way I would spend that on a used truck when you can get a brand new loaded one for that.

Well, what is the msrp of the truck? I guess if I had that budget, I would look at a new kr or a loaded lariat. But, if you assume the platinum had an msrp of 62k ish, you can assume 10-12k off msrp for the late 16s. So, is it worth it to you to save 2-3 grand for a used truck with 13k miles on it? I'd rather get a brand new one with an msrp of a couple thousand less. Usually finance rates are cheaper on brand new and insurance is cheaper too. Just something to think about.

cool the sticker was 59K so not far off. I have not searched the area for a new one but i am thinking i can get them to the low 40's. since it was sitting on their lot for 3 mos now i would think they want to get rid of it. and my position is I don't need to get a new truck my is fine but as you know it's 14 yrs old and i travel a lot so something with the latest and greatest options would be nice...

The 10-12k off MSRP is dependent on a lot of things, like inventory, locale, etc. He might not be in an area where that is going on just yet.

Look at a few dealerships in and around your area and see what kind of deals they are offering on the new Platinums. Compare MSRPs and window stickers of trucks built similar to the one you're looking at.

I agree with bachman44; if there is a difference of ~$2000 between a brand new truck and a used truck, I'd spend the extra $2000. Might get it back in incentives anyway.

I agree with what others have said, and add, when buying new you can get exactly what you are looking for, and not risk possible things the truck has been through. Lots of used hitting the market from recent Southern floods to beware of. Study this thread I will link below. A member took data on this thread and compiled it into excel on what members where getting off, by trim level. Not sure on what page, and it has probably been updated from when I purchased (12-2015). I also did not have to have a new truck, but used it as a baseline to start negotiations. 20% off MSRP was the norm on XLT's. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/just-...e-paid-295614/

Low 40s aint going to happen. These trucks have ridiculously good resale. but Another 2-3k off is possible. Are there certain features of the Plat that your really want? Bc at 48k you can get a loaded lariat new.

FWIW, I was offered $53,900 after a few rounds of the 'let me see what I can do' game for a Platinum demo yesterday w/ 3800 miles. Turned it down, as I'm seeing similarly equipped trucks being advertised for that price brand new.
ex. http://www.lonestarford.com/new/Ford...archDepth=1:27

I wouldn't pay more than $45k for a 13k mile, year old Platinum (which may not even have the latest Sync 3, if you care).

No offense, but ridiculously good resale is stretching it. If they had such good resale, people wouldn't be telling him he could get what is essentially a year old truck at an even lower price. The higher the price, the more you are going to lose in resale as a percentage in any given year.
