New owner!
Congrats and welcome! Spend some time searching and reading forum threads. Also check out member builds. The more I read, the more ideas I get on what I would like to do with my truck. Enjoy!
Congrats
Well, that depends what you budget - we can spend other people's $$$ real quick. Here's a few on the less expensive side:
Sidenotes on your new truck:
- FORScan adapter so you can update/modify modules to your liking ($20-30) link here to get you started
- Tailgate damper (OEM $60)
- Autostop Eliminator ($90)
- Shorter antenna to clear garage door if needed ($30)
- Lots of money on things to protect like Line-X, bed cover, floor mats, mud flaps, rear wheel well liners, seat covers, etc...
Sidenotes on your new truck:
- Run PREMIUM fuel - the 18+ coyotes have 12:1 compression and don't like regular (and may knock slightly). 91+ will make a world of difference
- Do not bother with an aftermarket intake or aftermarket drop in filter. The OEM one flows more than your engine consumes at WOT and filters well.
- Cat-back exhausts won't gain anything by way of mileage of efficiency, that said I have a Corsa Sport exhaust and it sounds excellent. There are also more budget friendly muffler swaps (Borla XR1 or HD truck muffler) that will give you similar sound for a fraction of the cost.
- Don't be surprised if your truck burns some oil during the first 10k miles. Keep an eye on the level - there is a TSB for software update to mitigate if it doesn't equalize though your new truck should have the updated software.

Dang thanks for the info there! I’ll look into the first half you mentioned for sure.
i already have a bed liner(plastic for now)
I was looking into duel exhaust. Prob ka&n brand or flowmaster. That beastly sound! Lol
Im looking into seat covers that fit well and not the cheapies from autozone.
Im not too knowledgeable about lighting but i would like a bluer/whiter tint look.
For the gas...haven’t heard of that but will check into that as well. For a newer vehicle i see why not give it the quality of quantity anyways

List of mods depends on trim level and what part of the country you live in. For me we are expecting freezing temps tomorrow night so I am in winter prepare mode.
1.) Lighting if you have non factory L.E.D.'s, spend the money and go with quality lighting. Tons of threads on this.
2.) Fluid Film or similar the underside.
3.) Upgrade at least the back shocks for now.
4.) Change out the windshield washer fluid to winter blend.
5.) Quality floor mats.
Also if its available E85 is a lot of fun to run in the 5.0 that's all I use in mine. Start a list of mods in your signature so we can see what you have.
Congrats and enjoy.

Whats the difference in e85 and premium? In all my trucks I’ve always used 87

Cory,
I too just picked up my 2020 XLT with 5.0L engine 2 weeks ago.
Dealer filled 36 gal tank with 87 oct gas and I just topped off with 15 gal of 87 oct Shell gas.
The truck's ECU ( electronic control unit) or computer will adjust to any octane.
robbgt is correct though. The 5.0L is a high compression engine and premium 93 oct or better will give better power and gas mileage. Some run COSTCO premium gas claiming it is priced the same as name brand 87 oct gas.
I personally have been driving very conservative and still seeing poor MPG; again using 87 oct. I may run the tank empty and then try a full tank of Shell 93 oct to see what improvements it gives in MPG.

I second the bed cleats. Also got a roll up tool bag for my wrenches and transferred the recovery equipment from the CJ to the new rig. I’m using the rear compartment under the seat to store tools, jumper cables, recovery and tow straps, fire extinguisher, and ratcheting tie down straps.
