Hi, I am usually on the 1992 thread as I have a 1992 F-150, but now I just purchases a 2020 F-150 XLT 4x4.
There are a lot of bells and whistles but I can not believe there is no light under the hood. 4 lights in the bed though.
That is right up there with no bed tie hooks on my 1992....

Nobody puts a light under the hood anymore, because you rarely have a reason to be under the hood at night, and when you do, you need something brighter than a little naked 12-volt bulb. Lights under the hood are a relic of times when people parked in unlighted garages and barns.

Welcome! I became an owner just a week ago too. Hood lights are almost a thing of the past. My newer Mercedes doesn't have a hood light either.

Well it's nice to have a hood light if you are having to jump start someone and it is almost dark out.
Sometimes it might be hard to remember where your flashlight is, and hold it while your hooking up cables. Seems like a cheap
addition to me. I miss it.

Exactly lol - but why would you need a flashlight if Ford Roadside Assistance can help you? Probably how they justified the removal. Who knows...

Hood lights are borderline useless anyways. Even with a hood light on my older trucks I still needed a flash light to make sure I wasnt hooking up the jumper cables the wrong way.

And with modern engines with gear reduction starters, jumping a vehicle is pretty rare now too.

2003 was the last year that F150s came with underhood lights.

Default Got mine 3 days ago

Congrats on your pickup. I’m three days into my 2020 XLT (previous pickup was a 2014 F-150). I hadn’t noticed the missing hood light, but mine didn’t come with fender well liners. I absolutely love this truck but thought that was a goofy thing to leave off the build.
