Speaks volumes about troubleshooting inexperience/incompetence of some ford service dept's.

Most of these cases are likely repairable at low cost if they could only identify the problem.

That's just how everything is now. Everything's disposable. When was the last time you heard of someone bringing in a tv or stereo for repair? You don't, you just go buy a new one. It's easier, and sometimes not much more than paying for a repair.

Let them change the engine. It is not rocket science.
I have personally swapped engines in numerous vehicles of all ages.
I have never had a problem with any of them.
It really is plug and play, just time consuming.

Often times when an issue like this occurs, they will replace the engine & send the defective unit to Ford for a proper diagnosis. Your avg Ford tech at the dealer can swap an engine with help from a Master tech but even a master tech is going to take a long time to find a small issue within a complex issue. Sometimes its cheaper to replace & diagnosis at HQ than to tie up a tech with limited resources

Really?

I see the logic, but thats one expensive way to go.

Watz an engine replacement go for.... $9000 total?

Hi, it's not a toaster; [you don't get another one] Take the new engine and enjoy your truck. You have warranty for this purpose.

Just let them put the new engine in. It's no big deal, they are plug and play. I doubt ford would approve an engine swap if they didn't think there was a manufacturing issue. Long ago my wife had a Honda that would always foul one plug, and throw CEL's. The dealer finally replaced the engine. In the end the one cylinder was slightly out of spec in diameter, enough that it caused all the problems.
