Default Need Help with Difficult Dealership

Hey guys, so long story short, I bought a new to me 2019 F150 in November with ~30k miles at a dealership. A week later, It was shifting very roughly and I got P0018 and P0021. Took it to the dealer I bought it at and they said they reset my adaptive learning per TSB-21-2357 and did SSM48423, claiming it was some sludge in the VCT system causing the P0018 and P0021 problem. Well, I took it home and a week later, I got P0018 for the 2nd time. So now it's at the dealership again, its been there for two weeks. They told me today its ready to pick up, saying they reset the KAM and it is fine after driving 30 miles, CEL is gone. Is the KAM the same thing as the adaptive learning? I though it was, but they are saying its a different thing that was never reset, and now its magically fixed. I feel like this is just a temporary bandaid and I will be taking the truck in again.... I really want to avoid this. Any advise is appreciated. My truck shows CSP 21N03 CAM PHASERS and 21N08 PCM REPROGRAM DUE TO ENGINE SHUDDER.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The code 18 and 21 refer to the same issue, cam over advaced bank 2 the driver side.
The sensor has detected a condition only on bank two.
I think resetting programs cannot fix the issue.
Could be the sensor/control function, could be sludge or both or even early sign of VCT failure.
You should have a warrentee of some kind on a 2019.
If the issue continues, it needs to be addressed more deeply and will only get worse.
Good luck.

That is an option... but the ones I've looked at so far seem fully booked out for months.

Yea, I definitely agree, I highly doubt resetting anything in software will fix the issue. Thank you for the replies.

I would get an appointment. Worse case cancel if this current dealer actually corrected issue. Good luck.

It is, but it isn't.

KAM stands for Keep Alive Memory. It refers to memory modules within the system that retain data after power is removed. One of the things stored in KAM is what the truck has learned about your driving style, commonly referred to as Adaptive Learning.

So, in resetting the KAM, Adaptive Learning has been lost, and the truck will start re-learning your driving style. KAM isn't Adaptive Learning, but they are intertwined.

Unfortunately, any dealer you pick is going to want to see codes. Pick it up, drive it, see what happens. If the codes/CEL/NVH return, then figure out plan B.

Oh I see, so if they cleared my adaptive learning in the past, that doesn't necessarily mean they already cleared the KAM? My service advisor is telling me they cleared the adaptive learning last time, but THIS time its the KAM that needs to be cleared and the truck is magically fixed. I am very skeptical....

Thanks!

Thank you. I called Ford Customer service to see if they could help me escalate or anything and they basically said pick it up, see if the codes come back then take it to a 2nd dealer. If they still don't fix it then I can escalate.
