Need explanation of perimeter security
When building your F150 in the Ford site, there is a $208 Perimeter Security add on.
So exactly what is this? The F150 already has a security system, doesn’t it?
Is this an enhancement of that? What additionally does this do?

Isn't the perimeter sensor the unit inside the truck that detects if somebody attempts to crawl through a window, for example.
I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine there is not a security system from factory that disables the vehicle to start. Perimeter sensor could be an option to detect interior movement.
Maybe that is what Will is trying to say, but I'm not including perimeter senors and ignition kill as both part of "security system" as a whole.

This additional perimeter security adds some additional shock alarm, plus additional distance for remote start, and notifies your Ford pass if alarm goes off?

No. All Ford vehicles come with basic security, called Perimeter Alarm, which goes off if a door is opened without disarming the alarm. Lariat and above add sonic monitoring of the interior, alarm goes off if motion occurs inside the truck, or if a window is broken. Additionally, you can add VSS, which is a two-shock sensor.

Read his correct description again. Your basic Perimeter Alarm doesn't monitor glass breakage. Of course the alarm did not sound (but if you weren't near the truck, how do you know that?).

From the WSM:
Perimeter Alarm
The BCM controls the operation of the perimeter alarm. It monitors inputs from the RKE system, the passive entry system (if equipped), the power door lock system, the PATS and the ignition status to determine when to arm the perimeter alarm.
The BCM monitors all of the door ajar switches, the hood ajar switch, the TRM (if equipped), the intrusion sensor, the CAN and the ignition status to determine when to activate the perimeter alarm. When the BCM detects an input indicating an unauthorized entry into the vehicle, the BCM activates the perimeter alarm by sounding the traffic horn and flashing all the turn signals and interior courtesy lamps at regular intervals.
The BCM monitors the RKE system, the passive entry system (if equipped), and the PATS to determine when to disarm the perimeter alarm.
A switch inhibit feature temporarily disables the door lock control switches and the tailgate release switch 20 seconds after the vehicle is electronically locked.
