If its the ambient temp sensor it should throw a code. I have a 2018 with the sensor in the mirror, changed them out to ones that didn't have the sensor in there and I got a CEL

As stated above, if it is the shutter it won't throw a code. I went about a month without realizing I forgot to plug it in after a grille install. I had my truck in for an oil change, at the dealer, and the tech had spotted it. From my understanding if the actuator fails, it will fail with the shutter open, which would just lead to an increase in time to warm the truck up. Not a catastrophic fail. At least that's what I understood from what he had told me.

Not sure what else could be there. Unplugging the shutter will definitely set a DTC or “throw a code”, but it is possible that it won’t illuminate the light. These are pictures from the early 18 platinum grill assembly that I have. The connector on the right is the shutter and looks nothing like what you are showing. The connector on the left is the harness for the ambient temp and 360 camera.

These pictures are of that same harness for a late 2018 after ambient temp was moved and it connects directly into the front camera. There shouldn’t be anything else up there from what I can tell.

when the mirrors were unplugged the temp did not work...
grille plug has been unplugged with no change...

Ok... Had to look up that connector today for my own project. The connector is number C133. The Yellow/Violet wire(pin 4) and the Green/Blue wire (pin 5) of that connector are for circuit re407 and ve750. These 2 wires run down in the grill to connector C132 which is the ambient air temp sensor connector. Ve750 is the ambient air temp circuit and re407 is the signal return. If you are positive that you don't have an ambient air sensor in the grill, then this harness goes to an empty connector. Seems odd that Ford would have still left that as part of the harness, though the Raptor did continue to use the sensor in the grill.

Do you know where you can find just the connector from the harness to the one in the grill I need to replace mine and cannot find just the plug with out buying the whole harness

Haven’t noticed any difference without it plugged in....surprised it didn’t throw a code

any tips on inserting that wire back into the plug holes? Or buy a new one and wire it in where it was located....
If you just pulled the terminals out of the housing, you should be able to put them back in. This might help you out.

I just entered a fictitious 2018 3.5L turbo and it shows the 2 - wire connector @ rockauto: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...onnector,10739

I'd go to a junk yard and cut one off.
