My Fox 2.0 Coilover kit needs ride improvement
Hi All!
Does anyone with the Fox 2.0 coilover kit have their lift set to 1”-1.5” and if so how do you like the ride quality.
I have mine set at 2” of lift as they come out of the box. The ride quality is ok but the lack of down travel tops out over every pothole and speed bump and can be super annoying and harsh.
I’m wondering if it would be worth it to adjust the lift down by .5” or 1” and get some of that travel back. I’m curious if anyone that has theirs set at this height still experiences this issue.
thanks for any insight!

Do you have a spacer lift as well as the Fox coiloves?
What is the distance from center of hub to fender?
You are describing a ride quality with a spacer system -can't think of a single thread with comments of the Fox shock system being anything but good.

I do like the stiffer more composed ride other than the lack of down travel and way it can’t handle potholes and speed bumps. I feel like I have 1” of droop before it tops out. Hoping taking the lift down a bit can get some of that back. Just wondering how much I should adjust it by.
The adjustment isn’t a solid 1 for 1, it’s progressive.
for example, if you lower it .25 and get .5 of adjustment, if you lower it .5, you might get more or less.
you can read my build or @johnday in BFE thread where we discussed this in great lengths.
I lowered mine down quite a bit on my 2.7 and didn’t get a solid enough result to put pen to paper on why I got what I got, I also lowered the fox on the current truck a little.
but yes, I’ve heard maybe 2 people complain out of all the years and I drive old tar and chipped farm roads and hit potholes, gopher holes, go over tree branches and I’ve taken the truck off road and the shocks have never “bottomed out or lost travel range.” I’d consider contacting fox.

Thanks Mark. Right about page 115 is where we got into most of the discussion on the shocks. Prior to that, the conversation started, may have to backtrack a few pages. There is a link to my build in my sig.
Ya, contacting Fox is easy with an email, and they always answered in a decent timeframe. I'd suggest doing that as well.

The difference between 2" of lift and 1.5" isn't very big so I wouldn't expect a drastic change in ride quality. If you adjust your Fox 2.0 coilovers down, the ride will get a little softer and smoother, but the coilovers might not be your issue. If you're running the factory upper control arms I'd advise making sure that what you're feeling isn't the ball joints binding and limiting down travel.

I recently adjusted my Ford Performance Fox 2.0 coilovers down by 8 complete turns. On my truck this lowered the front of the truck by roughly 1". Downtravel is significantly better and I no longer top out and clunk on speedbumps. Based on my research, the upper control arms aren't an issue on the F150 unless you start getting up into the 2.5"-3" range of lift. At 2" or below, you won't see any benefit to suspension travel with the UCA's (though the added adjustability can help with alignment).
I was able to use these spring compressors to make the adjustments with the coilovers still on the truck.
Edit to add: It's definitely not the balljoints binding as someone else posted. It's the shock topping out internally during downtravel. The Bilstein 5100's have 0.5" more shock travel (which equals 1" at the tire) than the Fox 2.0's and Bilstein doesn't recommend or require different UCA's.
