Default My (almost) First Post: DOWN WITH THE DRLS!

This is my first post (posting in the right place, at least), as I'm the happy new owner of a brand new 2015 XLT Supercrew 4x4 5.0.

I'm really happy with everything on the truck, but I loathe daytime running lights. Unfortunately, the manual says I have the "non configurable" type of DRLs, meaning there's no way to shut them off.

There is ALWAYS a way. After lurking around this forum for some time, I know just how handy some folks on here are. Does anyone know how to kill these blasted DRL's so the headlights only come on when I want them to?

Thanks to all who weigh in in advance.

You would need someone with access to the IDS tool. It is possible but dealers may have there hands tied by for on this. I fought this with them a few times as HID systems use only markers but non HID use full headlight.

Tried to get them to just enable markers and dealers are not permitted on non HID systems by Ford. They even denied HID only had markers on during day and referred me to dealer. They are idiots. They refer to dealers for their own system.

As a motorcyclist, I too hate DRLs... don't like the competition.

But only Canada has a DRL "law". Recommendations are different. If in the USA, Ford *can* disable the DRLs. Like someone said, dealers are idgits. Be patient, Someone will come up with the fix.

His sig is US. Should he have the option to turn them off. I know I do with the LED headlights.

People will see you and will not make a left hand turn in front of you!

I personally think having them on is a great idea. On my old 2002 I covered up the senser and left switch in auto so had lights on all the time. 13 years and never had to replace a bulb.

i can't come up with a single rational reason

why would one care? As the driver, i can't see my car's drl's illuminated

imo insofar as motorcyclists are concerned, anyone foolish enough to drive a motorcycle on the open road does so knowing that he/she is likely to be killed if involved in an accident

there are far more cars and trucks than motorcycles. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I have two motorcycles and to be honest I'm afraid to ride them nowadays. Never a accident in 50 years but now with the way people drive I think my luck is ready to run out..
