Motor Trend Take on "Tailgate War"

I love the concept of the GM Gate... but not necessarily the implementation - as more thought should have been put in regards to the hitch. I wish Ford had come of with that first!
The Split door gate, doesn't do anything for me... I remember when Ford had that on the tailgate of LTD Station Wagons - Most people just opened it like a tailgate, never like a door.
I love the Ridgline in floor storage, and wish Ford has such an offering, and it would be nice for some side storage access as well!
But alass... all these things add cost, to an already too expensive pickup! So, I'll stick with what I have.

I like the tailgate on my old 99 GMC Sierra best. Light, simple and the truck bed was low enough to get into without a crane like these new trucks.
I really like the step in my new truck. Simple, don't need to pull out the handle most of the time, and can step THROUGH the step as well.
Regarding the hitch on the current GMC. It appears to me there is a lot of room in ......wait....the bed for that thing rather than have that eyesore sticking out the back like a used butt plug.
