I *think* slot 36 is for the 2018+ trucks only. The instructions that were in the box with my 2015-2017 lights did not specify which fuse slot to use, it only had a picture which appeared to have the tap plugged into slot 97.

Tpballs, do you know what slot they used when they installed your lights? Maybe take a picture if you aren't sure...that could make a difference in the over-all intensity of the outline led if you are plugged into a slot that 'steps down' in voltage in certain scenarios (i.e. when headlights are turned on).

If you hit the brake petal (after the truck is turned off) it does make that slot 'hot' for a minute or two and will turn on the led outlines temporarily.
Thats interesting about the brake thing. I do like to hover my foot around the brake a lot so maybe that’s what I’m doing. I’ll keep an eye on that...

Funny because I was scratching my head about that one, too. I did what you did and looked closely at the picture in the instructions and just tapped the fuse they used in the instructions.’Would have been nice to specify, right? After watching my lights the past few days mine do not dim either. What is the function of fuse 36 in the 2018 trucks vs the fuse we tapped into on ours? Mines a 2017.

yep I took a picture of it. Not sure what # slot this is but that’s where it was plugged in

Trail hopper, I replied in the other thread but I wanted to put it here too- try clicking your headlight switch between 'auto' and 'on' 5-10 times and see if your DRL outlines dim down. This caused mine to dim down to a good night-time level. So the capability is in there. Just gotta figure out why it's not doing it automatically.

I will test this later today. Is your truck a Lariat? Mine is a Lariat 501a...I am starting to think that the people who state the dimming function is working do not have the 'auto' headlight setting installed in their trucks. *If* the 'auto' setting is the common denominator Morimoto is going to need to come out with some sort of harness that gets these working properly for everyone.

No, I have an XLT 302a. I *think* all XLTs come with auto headlights, but I am not positive on that. What's weird to me is that either setting by itself won't trigger the outlines to dim. It takes manually switching it multiple times. I may experiment and try tapping into some different fuses, but (IMO) the issue seems like it's in the actual headlight wiring, not the fuse tap wiring, since you were able to get the outlines to come on dim without the fuse tap even plugged in.

Anyone reach out to the retro fit source to see if they have anything to say regarding the dimming issue?
