Default Missing Splash Gaurd?

I recently removed the front license plate holder from my 2015 (5.0 XLT Supercrew 4x4) and besides the two bars in the bumper that the plate holder attaches to there's nothing behind the bumper so all i can see is the bottom of the engine compartment including oil filter and such. It looks super unfinished and i cant help but think that there should be some sort of guard around this area to at least keep rocks from flying up there. Has anyone else noticed this or had a similar issue?

My 3 month old 2018 5.0 looks exactly the same. I don't think you're missing anything...

It's blocked off on my 2016 5.0. It looks like someone put on a ecoboost bumper.

Mine is a 2 wheel drive, that may be the difference.

I looked at the brochure and managed to find the cover that I’m looking for. Ordered off Tasca Parts for $40 with shipping. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...l-fl3z17e810aa. I’ll post a picture once I get it put on. As far as I can tell the engine/drivetrain configuration doesn’t effect which style cover is used. It appears that if you’re truck came with a block heater (Which mine did) then it’ll have the open style cover to access the plug. I don’t plan on plugging my truck in anyway so I don’t care about covering it. If anyone can find any other information please share!

My truck that I picked up the other day had one of those plastic covers over the bumper holes broken, adjacent to either side of the license plate .. I visited a small Ford dealer in Missouri and they had the parts in stock and said these frequently get replaced.. he said it depends on the last 6 digits of the VIN. Mine has the block heater too... maybe what I’m talking about isn’t what you’re talking about.. I don’t have any pictures of mine at the moment.. he also told me that the license plate bracket had changed and I’d need to get another to play with the other piece. The total was barely over $50 for both..

I have a '15 XLT with 5.0 and I have this trim piece. It is possible on later trucks Ford went to money savings and deleted this piece of plastic?
I believe on EcoBoost trucks there is nothing in this area to allow airflow into the engine/intercooler

Where does your block heater plug come out at?

Comes out on the drivers side of the opening where the license plate is.
