Default Missing plug and some extra stuff.

So back at the beginning of 2020 I purchased my total awesome 2017 lx supercab long bed because well it's the only style trucks I like. I went with the 5.0 because my hobby has me pulling all kinds of junk home and or for people. The truck came from the Colorado Department of Transportation and had excellent paperwork and maintenance records. High mileage and pretty high engine hours but great shape. Anyway, for a few years now I haven't had trailer lights passed running lights. No brake lights, no turn indicators, hazard lights. Which I always thought was odd for a state truck. Well I've been been pretty lucky talking myself out of the few interactions I've had with hwy patrol and local peace officers.

Skip to the last week's, I've been restoring a 20'+2' dove tail I've affectionately named, Charon. You can look it up on your own if you're interested. So I've been reading on this forum off and on an knew that the Brake Control Module might be the issue and it must be because someone has cut the plug off. Now I've dug the two wires out and can't seem to find a color chart nore can I find a part number for the plug itself. If any of you fine folks might have that information or could at least tell me what color goes to which side of the plug I would be very grateful.

As for the extras, I've discovered a plug that isn't plugged into anything and my first thought was maybe something for the turbo option for these trucks? I also discovered some type of inside antenna for Internet called weBoost? It has a fuse on it so I'm happy about that. Was this an option or just aftermarket added by the state? Sorry, I know this post is ridiculously wordy. It's who I am, I guess. Thank you in advance.

First, WeBoost is a separate company that sells antennas and amplifiers for internet access. Some are Omni but some are directional and those work well. UTube search weboost.
Where is this hanging plug?
One of the ways to defeat the Auto Start Stop system is to unplug a small connection on the trailer tow module under the drivers side dash. This makes the truck think a trailer is connected and while disabling the Auto Start Stop, it may screw up other trailering aspects. If your A.S.S. Isn’t working, that’s probably the culprit.
If the plug is behind the lower right hand dash cavity AND you have the factory 7 pin connector, that plug is where the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller connects. For several years tow packages came without the ITBC . Mine was a separate option.

The connector for the TBC module is C2142. The connector is available as a pigtail assembly Ford (Motorcraft) 3U2Z-14S411-BJAC (WPT-955). The connector is a Yazaki 7283- 6447-40 and the terminals and pinout used are in the document below.

The connector should look like this.

The extra plug with an inline fuse is most likely something added by the previous owner as Ford very rarely uses inline fuses in their standard circuit design.

Here's a picture. I think the two cut wires are supposed to have a plug that goes into that module. The other hanging plug doesn't fit and I can't see a place for it to plug into. It has a plastic L bracket on it too.

Hopefully this is viewable.

The missing connector is C2498A which provides power to the TRM. Available as a pigtail Ford (Motorcraft) 3U2Z-14S411-PA (WPT-236), is a Yazaki 7283-6458-40 and uses Yazaki 7116-4120-02 terminals.

The plug (hanging connector) might be the test connection for the HS3-CAN and MS-CAN. Does it have 8 wires (with 4 duplicate color codes) going to just 4 pins in the connector. This would indicate it is the CAN test connector.

I agree that this is likely the CAN Test Connector C2122.

Let me just say that you all are awesome! Thank you so much. I'll hit up the dealership after work tomorrow and get me a plug and let you know how it all turns out. That test plug picture looks exactly like what is hanging down minus the L bracket thingy. I'll keep you posted!

The dealership parts guy gave me this instead of the one you posted. It works fine and from talking with him the only difference is the gage of wire. One is 14 and I think he said the other was 16. Anyway just wanted to update y'all. Thanks again!
