Ford F-150 ,2015,. purchased used. Rain here is normally 5-15 inches a year (semi dry). Keeping the door drain passages clear seems to help with water in door space. Not mentioned in the manual.
No. if you live in a cold climate, you don’t want them installed. The door will also not rust. It’s aluminum and aluminum doesn’t rust.

Most of the dirt inside your door comes off the window, not the small slot on the inside face of the door. Checking and clearing the drains occasionally is a great idea.

Yes. Rust relates to steel. I had a 2003 F-350 4x4 crew, not used to the aluminum build yet. However, road salt with water can cause corrosion to exposed aluminum. Do not know the level of corrosion protection the aluminum door has in the door space. White power (aluminum oxide) may be an indication of slow aluminum corrosion. Observed this around the tailgate. Has Ford issued a response to the cold climate door issue? thx.

They have. I had the TSB done to my truck almost two years ago. Part of it is removing that lower plug for air circulation to prevent freezing.

any advantage to plugs installed during non- freezing months? If I have the truck in a colder area I will remove the plugs to avoid a door lock freeze-up. Thx .
