Question Missing bolts from canter support bracket?

I took my truck (2015 F-150 XLT SuperCrew) in for an alignment (QuickLane attached to the dealer) after installing a new suspension and larger wheels and tires. The shop called to tell me that they couldn't get it fully aligned. They said I'd need a cam bolt kit to get it aligned to spec and that I was missing 2 bolts from the canter support bracket. They said I'd need to take it into the main shop to have all of that done. I called the main shop and after a bunch of hemming and hawing they finally told me the cam bolt kits would be $115 each, plus labor. They also said they couldn't tell me what it would cost to replace the missing bolts until they got it up on the lift to take a look.

I figured that was all garbage, so I ordered the cam bolt kits myself (I'd been considering them anyway so it's easier to fix alignment if I have an issue while out on a trail) for about half the price of a single kit from Ford. I went home and jacked the truck up to check out the missing bolts issue. I'm attaching a picture. I'm ~60% sure those bolts were not missing when we installed the suspension and only vanished when I took it in for service, but I don't have any pictures to verify.

Anywho, does anybody know what bolts these are and where to get them? I know a lot of the bolts in our truck are specially forged in the fires of Mt. Doom or whatever, so I just wanna make sure whatever I replace it with can't stand up to the pressure.

Those two bolts and nuts would be $18.88 plus shipping from us. Shoot me a PM here or email me at spowell@appleautos.com and I'll send you a cart from our site. We have the nuts in stock but will have to order the bolts but those are only 1-2 days out.

And for reference the OEM cam bolt kits would have been $82.28 per side from us.

I did reply directly to your email but got a rejection notice. I did also send a cart and it appears that went through but if you didn't get it your email server may have blocked that as well. Hopefully not.

why not just get some grade 8 bolts from your local hardware or auto parts store it is not like Ford or other suspension retailers make their own bolts the Co. you paid to do this work is pretty shady if they both sent out your truck missing parts and won't fix it like they should

I prefer OEM hardware personally not just because I sell it but because in many cases its sized precisely to fit a given location and an aftermarket bolt may fit but not fit quite right. These aren't terribly expensive either.

A prime example of poor fitting aftermarket hardware is lower ball joint pinch bolts that come in some aftermarket kits for various Fords, the bolt diameter is too small so after installation the ball joint can (and often will) simply pop out of the knuckle which can lead to very expensive repairs. Not that the crossmember bolts in the OP are probably as precise a fit, still can't hurt to use the right thing.

Yeah, I'm with Steve. I measured the parts and grabbed some grade 8s from the local hardware store, but I couldn't find exactly what I needed. I ended up grabbing bolts that were just a little too long. I had to cut and clean them before putting them in. It works, but the OEM parts would definitely have been nicer. 😞
