OP,

If you prefer the F150 to the Tacoma (which you stated you do) and you haven't taken delivery of your Tacoma yet (which you say you haven't) then I recommend you get back your $300 deposit for the Tacoma and hold off on your new purchase all together for a bit.

Either do a little more searching for the F150 you want at a dealer that will sell it to for within your budget, or take a bit more time to save up any extra funds you need to comfortably buy the truck you want.

If in the end the Tacoma is what you want and you like it better than the F150, then get it. You just seem to be waffling a lot an your pending Tacoma purchase...the last thing you want to do is 'settle' for a truck that you truly don't prefer. It will just annoy you and eventually cause you to spend even more money down the road to get the truck that you really wanted to begin with.

Good luck with whatever truck you end up buying, hopefully either choice will serve you well for a good, long while.

OP, sorry you couldn't find the deal you wanted. It is rare that anyone can pick out the exact truck they want at a specific Ford dealer and then also get the max discount. Many buyers have found they can get 10-12-14 thousand off MSRP in certain cases. Usually it involves a vehicle that a particular dealer wants to get rid of as either:
  • it has been on the lot too long or
  • they want to make room for a new batch coming in or
  • they are behind on their minimum sales quota.
Many prices and discounts seem to run regionally. If one dealer in a specific area charges $699 Doc fee it seems other local dealers are similar. Many dealers have a bottom line that they will not go under, unless they have one of the aforementioned reasons. My local dealer stopped at $10,000 off MSRP on the vehicle I was interested in and despite promises of price matching, I was able to beat it with $13,000 below MSRP. I had to do research and spend time but I enjoy research anyway. I did have to drive 300 miles to pick up my deal. So for $3000 additional I got roughly $10 a mile for my effort. I was almost ready to give up looking when I came across the deal I secured. YMMV

I had a 2009 Tacoma before my F-150. It was an awesome truck, and I put 140,000 miles on it and the only repair I did was 1 wheel bearing. Obviously, it wasn't nearly as refined as an F-150, but it was nice (TRD Sport, added leather interior to it).

That being said, when I bought it, I really wanted an F-150. It came down to about $4,000 difference, and I didn't spend the extra money. I did save some money and my Tacoma was a great truck, but I will say this - I was constantly envious of every F-150 owner that I knew. Sometimes, there's a bigger picture than the initial bottom line. If I had spent the extra money then and bought the F-150 I really wanted, I probably would still have it, and not have spent the extra money on my 2015 F-150. All I'm saying is that sometimes, there are other considerations than just the initial purchase price.

after reading all this all I can say is if you cant get the deal you want clearly they have no issue selling them for what they want (supply demand/what everyone else is willing to pay) so you just think complaining here that you where to cheap to pay for what you wanted will help?

With Toyota's decision to produce more Taco's in Mexico, the name is fitting.

Green16, I'm in my 6th Ford truck with a Chevy rolled in there too. I never pay MSRP, why would anyone want to? I think that our OP didn't find the truck he wanted for the price he wanted and felt it necessary to vent about it here.

My most recent purchase was for my 2016 loaded Platinum that I negotiated a 6" Pro Comp lift with wheels and tires for $51,500 out the door. MSRP before haggling was $62,800.

Promise his truck is right here if optioned crew 4x4 sport I choose v8 to show smaller list. Lots and lots of trucks still out there. If you waited too long you might have to get a plane and drive or pay to ship. Is that Ford or Dealership's fault? The market changed months later someone got mad. LMAO.... So if he sales his house 6 months from now does he want today's price or the price it is worth in 6 months. Markets are different for F150's in all regions.

Look, save yourself the PITA and the financial loss you will have when you unload the early and just pay the few grand more now and get what you want. The F-150 could turn out to be a total turd or the best vehicle you ever owned. So could the . If you are confident this won't happen, then for the love of gawd just log off and get on with your life. You won't find closure or support talking about how great a is on a Ford forum....

OP,

Ford doesn't monitor these forums for potential lost sales, so that wall of text starting with "Dear Ford" is pointless.

The only Taco you should be buying is the new Naked Chicken Taco from Taco Bell. It's a f**king winner.

I bought my f150 yesterday and had a Tacoma before. Toyota makes a very reliable truck but in my.opinion they lagged behind on creature comforts and price.

Don't screw yourself by not buying the truck you want over a couple grand. Get exactly what you want, you'll ultimately be happier.
