Default Mirror Question

Ok so I keep finding threads about installing tow mirrors but that doesn’t quite help me with my issue. I have the stock mirrors that came with my 2018 XLT, I knew it didn’t have heated or lit mirrors when I bought it but somehow I also failed to notice that it doesn’t have rear defrost. I can live without one but not without both. I was wondering if I am able to install new mirrors with heat and lights to replace my stock ones.

Yes It is possible "if" you have Forscan & are mechanically capable (and willing) to do the needed wiring changes, I just did this mod myself yesterday, see post #18 from 16F150 at the link for detailed info.

Thanks, I am no expert on wiring so I might have to ask around my area and find someone who can help. I will read that thread more and try to figure it out.

Totally understand, as I noted in my comments on the linked post, the hardest part was getting the brown #7 pin out of the harness connector, but still manageable. Youtube has directions on getting the control bezel off to gain access to the wiring & I would bet that you could find a video on directions on how to remove the pin from the harness, or check with an aftermarket radio - remote start accessory shop, The actual "new" wiring needed is very straight forward, you just need to extend the #7 wire to a new switch which is then connected to a body ground. I mounted my switch to the lower right of the OEM lighting control, where I could still easily reach it, good luck
.

If you don't care if its mirror or window defroster you could add a rear window defroster a lot cheaper and easier. Did a quick search and found this depending on size looks like it would be around $60-70. I have no experience with this company and I'm sure there's others out there if you search:
