I contacted my favourite local paint shop, asked him to let me know next time he was painting the same colour code as me. a week later he called me, i dropped the truck off. he sanded them smooth and painted them for $50
I bought a set of mirror caps for my 2016 XLT Sport off ebay. They came in chrome but I sanded them down. Put a few coats of primer, paint and then clear and used the 3M tape to stick them over my existing mirrors. They fit great and look really good and I can always take them off easily to re spray in the future if needed.
No, you have to remove the Glass but thats no biggie, Just adjust the glass to the upper in side corner and use a screw driver, There is a slot that you put the screw driver into and the glass pops off. Unclip the tabs from the inside ( You don't want to break these tab on the mirror housing, Then you buy a mirror, The tabs on the Caps does not matter your gonna replace them anyhow but you can break the lock tab on the housing and your gonna have a problem $$$$) then replace the Cap. Sounds kinda difficult but it's a 15 min job. There are two wires to unclip also. If you try to pull it off from the outside Be careful of the tabs that are part of the Mirror housing. Also Never seen the double sided tape ones. Most ones I've seen are you Replace the stock Caps..
