Has anyone tried painting these? I'd use the ones already on the truck but I heard you usually end up breaking a couple of the pins.

I wrapped the ones on my 2014-that-shall-not-be-named.


Shouldn't break anything. Most fearful part is getting the glass out. After that it's a bunch of screws and all the clips can be seen and gently pried. Had the driver's mirror apart on my 2018 a few weeks ago to reconnect the directional light plug that fell out - no issues with disassembly.

I bought OEM PTM door handles and mirror caps. They don't come painted, but ready for paint. I broke a few clips removing the original mirror caps. But I wasn't trying not to break any because I knew they were going in the trash.

 

I got a set of painted mirror caps on ebay for maybe $75. I was cheaper and way less time consuming in the end, than if I had to paint them.

 

How well do they match the painted body? I'm hopeful I can match the red.

 

My truck is race red. No issues matching at all.

 

Nice. Did the door handles come red or did you replace those as well? I looked on ebay and just saw the mirror caps.

 

If you don't mind spending $350 you can always buy them prepainted FROM THESE GUYS.

 

Door handles were painted from factory. It was just the mirror caps were the textured black.
