Unhappy Minor 12v Plug Issue

Very strange that my 12v cooler won't work when plugged into my truck's 12v "lighter" power supply. It works in my wife's car, my RV and a friends truck. It will work if I plug in an adapter and plug the cooler into the adapter. Kind of a PITA as we use the cooler a lot. Rather not replace the cooler 12v plug ----- any thoughts?

how much current does it draw? Also, it could be making a bad connection between the two, some 12v power ports are finicky little guys.

Will it work in any of the other plugs in the truck? I have 3 in my XL. For that matter does anything work in that plug?

Tried both 12v plugs with the truck running and not running. As "rngtrtl" stated, they're finicky. I did check the draw on the plug, 11.7v.
Thanks for the input.

I use a cooler in my truck and have no issues with it. 11.7v is not what I would call good voltage, you should be over 12 volts. Is 11.7 with the truck running or off?

That is the voltage, not the draw. The draw is how many amps does the cooler use? And yes, 11.7 is low the plug should read over 12.

Believe it or not but there are two sizes of 12v outlets. I bet you have the large size outlet and small size plug. Either keep using the adapter or replace the 12v plug on the wire.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I like to come back as the OP and "finish" a thread. Anyway, found the 12v cord to an old cooler that worked with my newer cooler and in the truck. All is good. Strange on the one plug though. Cheers.....
