Ha! So true, right? There are lots of white trucks in that area...

If you give up the fact that you qualify for $5,000 in savings off the price, they might only give you $3,500 off MSRP because they know that that is a total of $8,500 off and the buyer will be ecstatic..... rather than giving you $5,000 off MSRP to begin with and then you dropping the hammer and getting an additional $5,000 off. You just made $1,500 easy-peasy.
I have a feeling most people will find that being so dodgy is not actually conducive to getting the best price. Don't forget to have a buddy drive you to the dealer so they can't get any info from your license plate.
"Hi, my friend just dropped me off and will be back in 15 minutes. My name is John Smith, phone number 111-222-333. I live at 123 Anywhere Drive, Anytown, Anystate, USA. I'd like you to give me your best price on this truck. I'll stand here while you go cry about not knowing who I really am. I'm a serious buyer, as you can tell from my vagueness and excessive anonymity." I guess if that works for you, great.....but I wouldn't expect others to reproduce this tactic with favorable results.

I've been pretty satisfied with going in and being forthright with them.

Lariats don't have strong incentives, and they are less likely to dealer discount them as much as the plethora of XLTs they churn through knowing there's buyers out there looking specifically at a luxury w/ leather truck and are way less likely to worry about an extra grand or so they could fight over.

I just got a 502A Lariat here in Nevada in June and was able to get $9k off MSRP via a phone call. Came in the next morning and signed the papers.

Maybe incentives ended, but it was one of the easier buying experiences I've had. I'm well pleased with Ford Country here in Henderson.

What part of NC? I bought my truck and my ST from Green Ford in Greensboro. Got a hell of a deal on the truck because it was a 2017 still sitting on the lot in February of this year ($12k under sticker on a 502a Lariat). It did require a bit of a fight, but eventually was able to wear them down.

If you're a Costco member by chance, they participate in the Costco Auto Program. Worth looking into.

If you really want to learn how to purchase an F150 at rock bottom prices, read the thread called "show us your under invoice price paid" (or something like that) in this forum. You'll need to spend significant time reading that thread, but if you do, you could well end up getting a very good deal.

And yes, it can (and should) all be done from your computer, best not to show up at the dealership until you have a deal you are ready to sign. Again, there are many ways to do this, but if you want your best shot a the lowest possible price, follow the advice in the above thread.

Most initial interactions will start off with a very small discount. That is OK. It is a slow dance that can take quite some time to play out. Be patient, if you want the best deal. Let them know you are ready to purchase today if the price is right. Engage with many dealerships. It takes numbers to find "the one" (dealership or sales person) that needs one more truck by the end of the month to hit a sales incentive of some type. This should be a good week to negotiate with the end of the month on Friday.
