When I was at the dealership I was looking for the longest lasting engine. One of the salesmen just put in his order for a truck he was planning to have last him his whole life after retirement. To my surprise he got the 2.7. He said after watching the engine tear downs personally the 2.7 had the least internal wear and regardless of the gas mileage he felt it the safest decision. I was already leaning toward the 2.7 so figured why not.
