Just an update in case anyone is interested....

Stopped by that dealer that was 1 1/2 hours away that was advertising a truck similar to what I was looking for for $57.300. As I pulled up Saturday afternoon, they were washing a BJ Platinum outside the service bays. Crap, I thought... they just sold it... Actually, they didn't, but it was a demo w/ 3800 miles on it (they never identified it as such on thier site). Oddly, they had another Platinum 'demo' on the showroom floor. For giggles, I asked how much they wanted for it. First offer was $56,900. I laughed. They eventually came down to around $54k, but I still think I can get a brand new truck for that price, so, no deal.

I also realized over the weekend that the regular tow package comes with the aux coolers and beefier sway bar, which I thought were only available with the Max Tow and the main reason I wanted it. I really don't need that last 700 lbs of towing capacity, so regular tow is OK, I guess. And, though I'd still like the Tow Mirrors, I'm willing to skip them, too (probably not a bad idea in the crowded suburbia where I live). Heck, for the right deal, I may even go with a Magnetic vs. the Blue Jeans. As such, it opens up a few options for me.

I did find another truck (in RI) that had every option I wanted (incl. some of the accessories that can be either factory or dealer installed). But, then I realized it had the Brunello interior. The Brunello looks great on a white truck, but I'm not sure I like it on BJ.

In doing some more Internet searching, I'm finding lots of dealers only a few hours away, but outside the NE, that are advertising plenty of Platinums for around $10k off. To me, that means there's still a little wiggle room, but if one of the local dealers would just make that offer, I'd probably be all over it. I'm still willing to wait on the right deal, or let it pass if that's the case. But, I do have our annual 'guy's weekend' this weekend, where a bunch of us old friends that are scattered around get together once a year for a weekend of doing nothing, and I'd love to show up in a new F150....

Still got a couple of feelers out, so I'll see what happens.

I first looked at a couple of random dealerships in Houston, based on comments people made earlier about coming to TX to get one, but the first 2 dealerships I checked in Richmond VA were doing the same:

I am in the process of seeing what some leftover 2015 Platinums are going for and also the difference on 2016.

Well, I got tired of agonizing over making the right deal, and figured if I was willing to go with a '16, I better do it now before the options start dwindling. So, I'm making a deal with a local dealership for ~$56,700 on a pretty loaded Platinum. One of the reasons I went with this dealership is because the Commercial Truck Manager was the one that called me beck, and he was the one that was able to answer all my questions about sale price, financing, trade in, delivery, etc... Much better than dealing with a sales guy that had to go check on everything and get back to me!

Hoping to pick it up later today or tomorrow!

Congrats!

But why pay 5k more than ones you just posted? Different color? Options?

Yes, basically.

The one I decided on has a few more minor options (bed steps, spray in liner, etc... ) that I wanted than some of the others, and is also my first color choice. The closest I came to the 'perfect' truck was about 3 hrs away, except that one had the Brunello interior I didn't really want, and wasn't that great of a deal anyway. The ones that were better deals, I would have to add the options on piencmeal after delivery, bringing the price back up (and costing me my time running around). I had these visions of trying to get to the LineX place, then the tire shop, then back to the dealer to have something done there, etc... So, once I started to 'settle' on a truck that wasn't exactly like I wanted, traveling to get it didn't seem as appealing, and paying a bit more to have it delivered as close to 'perfect' as possible started makign more sense. The only OEM option that I wanted missing from the one I ended up with was the bed extender - not immediately neccesary and easy enough to add later.

I already ordered a Bak Revolver for it, and will set up an install for the Rancho Quicklift and some KO2s for next week at a nearby (and conveinient) shop that specializes in 4x4s where I can drop it off before work and pick it up afterwards.

Congrats! And have fun showing off the new truck
