Default Max tow package?

I just purchased a 2018 F-150 Sp crew with 3.73 gears, class IV hitch, and factory trailer brake controller. Accroding to the dealer literature the Max Tow pkg includes all of this and an upgraded front sway bar. My truck has the 7050 GVWR Package so I'm planning on adding Timbren helper springs. Does the Max tow add a transmission cooler?.

Max Tow is the 3.5 only and comes with an e-locking 3.55 axle.

Why the helper springs?

Do you have the $995 (window sticker MSRP) trailer tow package? (53A)

if you are towing heavy, you should be using a WDH to “level” the truck. Helper springs/bags can assist with payload handing and vehicle stability. AFAIK you should not add additional trans coolers to a 10r80

According to the 2020 trailer towing guide the 53c max tow package does not have the aux transmission cooler but the 53a tow package does. The trailer brake control is standard with the 53c and an option with other trucks. The F150 is listed as having a towing capacity of up 13.200# when properly optioned but in my opinion above 8,000# is a job for a Super Duty.

Chances are that camper and you as the driver, with no other passengers and nothing else in or on the truck whatsoever, only you and the camper, max if not exceed your truck's GVWR.

Load it up and hit a CAT scale to see what's what

I agree 100%. I down sized from an F250 diesel to my current F150 with max tow because I sold my 11000# boat and bought a 6500# travel trailer.... Plus the F250 had 285000 miles on it and was starting to get a bit rough

I tow a 8500lb trailer loaded but a tag and I am just over on my gvwr. That 1700 will push you way over. What's your yellow payload sticker say inside the door jam? Do you have a tranny cooler sitting under the transmission?

It was my understanding that the Max Tow came with a different axle than the 53A tow package. I read this somewhere previously when trying to figure out what it would take to convert a 53A to Max Tow

The gen 13 trucks came with either a 8.8 or 9.75 rear axel with the 9.75 being the beefier of the 2. My '17 5.0 which I traded and the new '20 3.0 PS were both 53A and both came with the 9.75. Not sure but maybe which frame you get determines the axel size, both of these trucks are the HD frame. That's a guess on my part.
