Default LT tires

I am thinking of switching to LT tires from my stock Goodyears. Mostly I want more stability when towing my 7,500 lb travel trailer.

I was wondering if anybody has switched over and what your impressions were.
What brand and load range did you get? How did it change the ride from the stock tires?

I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Just picked my '15 up today. Traded in my '10 that has almost new Michelin LTX AT2 10 plies. Service was closed today, but, next week we're switching tire for tire.

Stock tires suck for anything truck related. Yes the ride suffers a bit, especially at 50+ psi, but, I don't buy trucks for the ride. When towing/hauling, I run 80psi, but normally keep them at 50 and the ride is not nearly as harsh.

I got over 70,000 miles on my last set, and never rotated them once.

I did, twice actually. First was to some inexpensive mud tires that I didn't like and second time to BFG AT KO2. The first set hummed a little which I could have lived with and the steering felt a little off. The BFG are totally quiet and the steering feels better than the original Goodyear.

Stock was P265/70/17 I stayed with the original size and now have LT265/70/17 load range E. The E is total overkill for my truck, but it's nice to not worry about it. C would be fine.

The ride is firmer but not bad. The BFG handles a LOT better, the tires don't want to roll over in turns. I'm running 55 now, but might try dropping to 50. These tires can't be run at pressures much lower than 50.

I wanted the thicker load range E because I have a plow for the truck, it helps with carrying the weight and the thicker tires are less likely to blow a sidewall if you hit something buried in the snow.

Why not? It's not like I have any reason to exaggerate.

Rears had a bit more wear than the front, but, not so bad that it would have made much difference. LTX MS tires lasted longer than the ATs, but I wanted a little more aggressive on the last two sets.

I've never really rotated my tires, but I do spend a majority of time on the highway.

hmm, I ran Kevlar pro grade goodyears on my ranger that was loaded with topper, bedslide, and about 500 lbs of tools 24/7
easily 70,000 miles, no rotation. ran 80 lbs air at all times, they still had plenty of tread, drive responsibly and inflate to the tire, not the door sticker and tires will go a long ways, run LT tires at the door sticker and they wont last long.
ive seen mich ltx,s go over 100,000 miles on a f350
ive never rotated tires in 40 years of driving and don't plan to start now
