Default Lowering the rear to level....

I will have my truck on paved roads 99.9% of the time. This is my daily driver and pulls my bass boat around the State with occasional trips across state lines. I will likely not increase the size of my tires and if I do, it would be minimal.

Has anyone here lowered the rear of the truck instead of raising the front?

What would the pros/cons be of doing this?

Assuming that the '17 rear suspension is the same as the '15 - '16's, it been done by a lot of folks, including myself. Just remove the lift blocks (you can either reuse the u-bolts or replace with 2WD u-bolts which are shorter) and your truck will be nearly level (still slight nose down posture). I suggest replacing the rear shocks with 2WD versions so that the shock is functioning in it's mid range position, rather than biased to one end of the travel.

I removed the rear blocks, replaced the shocks with Fox 2.0, went up one size on the tires (285/70/17) and the truck performs fine in the desert, even with my bike in the back. Nothing rubs or feels like it's bottoming out. Granted I'm not jumping anything but I don't poke along either.

Just be sure to readjust your headlights if you do remove the blocks as the vertical alignment will be off otherwise.

Lots here have done it. Very easy to do on the 4x4 by just removing the rear blocks.
I did it to make it easier to load my motorcycle/mower/atv in the bed. The U bolts will stick out a lot more some some choose to get the 4x2 U bolts, which are made for no blocks.

All you are doing is taking out a block. So no, it will not effect your payload. Only thing it will do, is make the rear sag a bit more under full load. The rake is there so the truck will be level when loaded to capacity.

Does removing the R-Block jeopardize the warranty?

Another good question. These days it seems like driving it home jeopardizes the warranty.

Anyone have a video of this being done? All I see are videos adding blocks to lift.
