Default Low coolant level

My F150 3.5 EcoBoost is about 2 years old.

I have noticed that it had been leaking coolant, from the overflow/ expansion tank hose, & had it in to the dealer for service about a year ago.

It is now well below the lower level.

It is an external leak. I would like the dealer to repair it, but I don't want them using some stop leak product, (Bars leaks, etc)

Did they propose using a stopleak product? Or you're just preemptively concerned?

What was the leak they fixed a year ago and what was the fix?

Mine was leaking from the same spot. I Slid that spring clamp back far enough I could get a regular hose clamp on and it has not leaked since.

If those clamps are not put onto exactly the same place on hose they were before, they will leak.
I agree with Fournierrandy!
My tundra had a water pump leak, had to add but never saw a puddle because it was slow enough I guess it evaporated. It did leave a stain on W/p so It was a easy diag once I looked for it.

I can see the stains around and below it so just put a better clamp on it.

So have you tried doing something about it besides staring at it and making up dumb hypotheticals about a dealership possibly doing something you don't agree with?

If you don’t trust the dealership. You can cut a little off the end, and tighten with new hose clamp.

If it's still under warranty, I say take it to the dealer and let them fix it.

I did that before I fixed mine with a hose clamp. They claimed it was the thermostat housing and replaced it. 2 days later it was leaking again after I asked them to put a new hose and clamp on also and they didn't. He is probably better off just putting a decent hose clamp on it. It was pretty sad as I even argued with them that the leak was from the hose. Hard to argue with the professionals you know haha

They are considering replacing the tank.

They think that the barb where the hose goes on to might be cracked. I asked them to try a new hose & maybe new clamps.

I have it booked in for Monday morning. I bought a jug of Ford premixed coolant and topped the tank off to the max level. Used about 2/3 of a jug, so not a major leak over 2 years.
