Not sure I understand your comment about the lock box, but to answer your question... you have to have one of your keys in the truck, to start it with the push button.

I see this is your first post.... A proper introduction would be nice. Welcome to the forum.

You can take your spare fob and wrap it in foil and hide it in the truck where only you know where it is. If you loose your daily key pull the spare out of the foil and your on your way. I don’t want to sound judgmental but these fobs are expensive, if you loose your keys so often you have to have a plan in place I would look at your habits and change them. Knock on wood in nearly 30 years of driving I have never lost my car keys or had a need for a hideaway key.

I also have the keyless entry and push button start. I wrap my spare key fob in aluminum foil and hide it behind the rear seat so if I ever lose my key fob I can use the door key pad to get in and I have the spar to use to start the truck, The aluminum foil blocks the signal so If someone should break in they can't start the truck.

You haven't gotten older and started hiding things from yourself. It'll come

Might be time to stop hiding your car keys from yourself.

Leave that trick for your debit and credit cards on black friday.

We only need to remember 2 things:

1. Where the key is stored when it's not in the vehicle ignition.

2. To damn well put it there each and every time!

I take the battery out of the spare Fob, just need to slip it into the port under the cup-holder to start the car .
