Default Looking for tailgate protection

Im looking for a hard plastic tailgate protector. I install Ac units and why Ford can't make a tailgate that won't tear apart when you slide something heavy over it doesn't make sense. Anyway does anyone know of one that works with the built in step?

I'm assuming you sliding things with the tailgate closed. I did it all the time during my construction days. All my trucks have a plastic type protector over the top tailgate. Chevy has the bigger one. Toyotas are too damn small. Every single one has scratches and gouges. Just normal. At least for me.

Tailgate down. The problem is if you slide stuff off the end it pulls apart the plastic cover. I'm just looking for a plastic protector like you would get with the factory drop in bed liner

You can buy a OEM Ford tailgate protector separate (without the bed liner). I had them on my last two trucks and they work great and are very sturdy.

Mine is a work truck also. I use a rubber bed mat along with the weathertech tailgate piece. Easy to install and is holding up well so far. Good luck.
