Default Live Traffic.

I have a 2016 Lariat with the voice activated navigation. A friend was riding with me and noticed the live traffic indication as we were cruising down the freeway. The green or red highlights beside the route as the curser followed the route. He asked how the nav got those updates? I confessed I didn't know. My iPhone6 connects to the system.....is it done someway through it?

its free for 5 years (or was on my 2016). its separate from your radio subscription, and when you renew your radio, you will sometimes lose the travellink services and have to call sirius back up to fix their screw up.

I do think I had some small Sirius availability when I bought the truck new in Jan 2017. I never used it and honestly don't know if it is still functional now or not.

the travellink services (traffic and weather) are free for 5 years, you get a 6 month trial for music, as well as the free listening events Sirius does every few months.
