Leveling kit
Hey guys, my name is peter and I’m new to the truck world. I recently got a 2017 f150 4x4 fx4. I got 20x12 or (12.5) rims and want to mount 33s on it. Now does the leveling kit a good cheap option or should I do a coil over or a lift kit? Thank you! I’m trying not to induce issues as I love the truck and driving it!

33” tires may look small, especially on 20” wheels with a leveling kit installed. You may want to bump up to 34” tires. I have a 2.5” leveling kit installed and don’t get any rubbing with 285/75R17 tires. The truck looks proportionately correct. Pay close attention to the weight of your tire choice. If you go heavy, your fuel economy and acceleration will take a big hit.

Personal preference but make sure you have looked at a bunch of pics/videos of 33" tall tires before buying them for a leveled truck

I understand the look you're going for, but those -44 offset are the problem. Those are sticking WAAYYY out there. If you went with a more conservative offset like a 0 or on the + side, it would be easier to fit. I'll risk it and say, a lift is more what you want with -44. There are a few guys here that use that offset, hopefully they see this.

Thank you all for the great info! I really appreciate it! So the rims were a graduation gift. I like the truck stock as I only use it to haul my motorcycles to the race track. I know that those rims with this offset will stick out about 2” (saw some YouTube videos). My concern is will it be too heavy for the truck (2.7 eco boost) and I’m guessing it will induce premature wear? Also if I would do a fox 2.0 lift ( I think 2” lift in the front) can I still fit them or will I need to find a different bigger lift?
thank you
thank you
Just went through looking at and deciding on lift kits myself. I did a lot of reading and watching reviews. I tried to install myself, and well you can see my other thread about "how bad did I mess up" here if you want: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/how-b...ess-up-490668/ . I went with the Bilstein 5100 setup to level to the max height of 2.25" i believe, as I'm doing 33x12.5 on 20x10 with -12 offset wheels. I went Bilstein because I read spacers can affect the ride quality, and the Bilsteins are reportedly better as an all around upgrade for ride and towing.
I don't have the wheels on yet as I just picked the truck up last night from the shop (again you can see the thread if you are curious).
Someone did mention wheel weight, I have the stock 18" lariat chrome setup now and those are about 65 to 70lbs a wheel. My new set is coming in at just over 100lbs per wheel! Gonna hit the mileage for sure!
