Default Level Question: Suspension

I am looking to get a 2 or 2.5 level. Most likely in the form of a spacer. But if the ride is going to suffer a lot...then maybe I should re-evaluate. My goal is to make room for larger tires. Also don't want to put more strain on my suspension components.

I don't mind if there is some rake. Ideally I want to put 275/60-65/20 or 285/60/20 tires. Most likely Terra G2's I would like to find a 33.5ish tire, no more then 34"

My main concern with the 2.5 is putting more strain on the components then I need to, to accomplish my goal...Should I be less worried? Most people mention over 3" is where the strain starts but, I don't want to make it higher if I don't need to.

Why the dilemma? I want to install it tomorrow. I need to either order a 2" from amazon soon and hope it gets delivered tomorrow, or pick up one on CL that is 2.5 this evening...

I know there are tons of threads on this, and I've read them. I just am not sure if I am overthinking that half and inch.

A spacer that mounts on the strut should not change the ride much. The only real difference is that you will lose some downward travel (droop). How much it will affect you depends on how the roads are in your area (around here, frost heaves and potholes abound).

Maryland isn't great as far as road conditions...Should I just bite the bullet and do more of a Rancho Quicklift set up?

2" spacer will be plenty if you go with a 275/60-65/20 or 285/60/20 set of tires. The 2" level will leave you with approx. 1" of rake perhaps less.

Doing a 2" rather than 2.5" is easier on the suspension and your piece of mind while still fitting the tires you want and looking leveled.

I've put a few leveling spacers on my previous (and current) trucks, it doesn't change the ride at all. Tires are what really change your ride quality. Keep the spacer around 1.5" - 2" since you have a 4wd truck, you don't want extreme angles for your CV axle.

LOL

I think you'll be glad you did the 2"

Are you doing this yourself or having a shop do it? Don't forget to have an alignment done afterwards.

I'll do it myself. Just to clarify though, my wife will not care that I am ordering, installing etc. I just mean I hope I have time to install it before she gets back from out of town. Mainly just depends on amazons delivery skills.

Default Levels and tires

i have a 275/70/18 k02s on my 2016 crewcab FX4. I am using a 1 1/4 inch wheel spacers, and there is no tire rub at all. I will likely lift the vehicle by an inch or two at some point in time anyway. I still want it to fit in the underground parking at the malls. Pretty scared already.

Point is, with 33.2 inches of tire, there is really no need for a lift or level. Al least not on mine.
