Of course a SINGLE coating will not get you more that a year or 2, when 4 coats are applied it is generally referred to as "lifetime" or guaranteed for 8-10 years

LOL yeah...Depends on how many coats are put on, I've seen cars that had been coated for years beading better than a freshly waxed one, I have had 3 vehicles ceramic coated.

Maybe not a single application with no maintenance but the ceramic pro installer I spoke with does yearly inspections for the life of the vehicle in which he goes over the entire truck and re-applies as needed. So, common misconception that you can apply and be good forever...not true. It does need some uptake but the inspections are free at his shop.
I guess my question would be how many coats the guy you spoke to puts on originally, you can get anywhere from 1 coat to 4 and the guy that has done all 3 of my vehicles registers it with ceramic pro so if there is a problem they will recoat,
secondly its not just as easy as oh, there is a bad spot, I'll reapply some ceramic coat, the majority of the work is in the prep, all bugs, road tar dirt etc has to come off if the prep work is no good and you have the ceramic coat over say an area where there are some bugs stuck to the paint, you won't be able to get them off unless you work through the coating or wait until it wears off, so if you can pay your guy once and he comes and details your truck year after year and applies the coating stick with him for sure!!!!
Scam. Nothing lasts 8-10 years. Especially here in New England. People hear ceramic and it's just a buzz word. No different than the dealer trying to get you to pay $600 for their "simoniz coating" which again is just a wax and sealer.
Do yourself a favor prep correctly and use a long lasting wax like Collinite.

Yeah, dont quote me word for word, I just dropped by, asked a few questions trying to get more familiar with the product, maintenance, etc. Its the ceramic pro gold. Says he does a full prep, fill in the small chips I have in front, clay bar, etc. Full prep, then he puts a base layer, then 4 on top, so a total of 5 layers. He offers first free hand wash after and 6 free hand washes a year for life. Also said during the yearly inspection he will apply the ceramic sport if needed in any areas. Again, not completely familiar with the whole process but doesnt sound bad for someone to offer yearly inspections to maintain it, 6 car washes a year as long as I own the truck, and was a good dude.
Ceramic coating is a Silica compound. It is real easy to rejuvenate the Ceramic coating with a simple spray on, wipe off Silica based product. In fact many ceramic coaters recommend doing so for longevity, while others require it for the warranty.
I did my own over a year ago, and it still beads like new, and washes clean every time, provided I stay off freshly paved asphalt. When done drying it, I just go over it with a fine mist of Reload, wipe it all down, and that's it. I don't need to do it every wash, but doesn't hurt it either. All coatings must have maintenance done, they don't last forever, regardless of how many coats are applied, elements do break it down over time, no matter how good the product is. Some require more maintenance than others, but is still required. The difference though is once a years vs 4 or more times a year with wax, and no build up that has to eventually be removed after dulling the paint.
This is my truck after nearly 1 year later. It was dirty too, just noticed the windshield has marks.
