Default Lets talk bed covers!

I am looking at bed covers, Like a retractable or a roll up so i can still use the full bed when needed. But I have had cheap ones before that looked like they would fly off at highway speeds or where super loud flapping around. what does everyone have on here? hows the fitment? how water tight is it?

I’m curious about this too. I’m considering the Bakflip MX4, but want to hear what others are using.

Had this for over a year and it's been awesome. No leaks and it still looks like new

Order the bakflip mx4 from zach@realtruck, unreal pricing...I was apprehensive cause i like the roll up ones too (actually had a vanish access on it last week) but when i thought about it i rarely need the full bed uncovered so i can deal with it flipped up on the window a few times

Bak MX4 from Zach is also my vote. I have had it for a few weeks now and it is outstanding. Super easy latch system that can be activated from either side when folding it up, great weather resistance, and took me about 40 minutes to install by myself even with my 3 year old trying to "Help".

Alternative that I like is this:

You can definitely find it cheaper shopping around, but its a roll up and when rolled up shows the Ford logo, which is cool.

yup, I've got the Ford hard roll. It is nice that it doesn't flap around. I think it is the best looking when closed. I don't like the MX4 because of the goofy drains and losing all the visibility when open.

The hard roll roll loses about the same amount of space at the front as the mx4 when open, but I think the hard roll is quicker and easier to operate.

Install is fussy to get just the right overlap onto the tailgate, and shim adjustment is needed to get the side rails sitting level, but once set up it is great.!!!

How water tight are these? You mentioned shimming the side rails, are the shims supplied and are they visible? Any chance of some pics? Thanks

I do like the revolver x2 the best for looks and function, but i'm afraid of someone thinking it's a regular roll up and try to slash it...thats why i went mx4

I have it overhanging the endgate so it rests on and gets strength from the gate but also works well with the seal.
Here you can see the factory shim on top with the thin material I used below held in place with 3m tape. It just levelled out the rail for me which gave the tail gate height I needed.

The Ford model comes with shims pre installed. I just had to supplement mine with a maybe 1/16" plastic material at the tailgate end to get it to sit perfectly level. Shims aren't visible at all. My tailgate sits a bit high so I think it is a case by case basis.

it is as water tight as any cover I have had.
