Default LED Headlight Question

For those with the OEM LED headlights, what lights up in daytime with the daytime running lights activated? The headlights? Or the LED surround?? I'm looking at replacing my stock Lariat halogens with the OEM LEDs and wondering if the conversion harness by Raptor Retrofit correctly translates what you'd see on a stock LED setup. With my halogens just the headlights come on daytime but I think it would look great just to have those LED surrounds lit up.

Just the headlights on mine.

Just the headlights at a slightly reduced brightness. The yellow "rings" are so dim that they barely show up in the daytime anyway. I did discover by accident though that if the headlights and the daytime lights are all set to off and you turn the blinker on the yellow ring flashes bright along with the regular turn signal. Whew that was a long sentence sorry!!! It looks pretty cool actually.

I see a lot of other vehicles that use just LED strips as daytime running lights. I wonder why Ford elected to go with the headlights only?

I think I read a thread saying that it's possible for the dealer to change this so the led ring acts as the DRL?

Nah, it requires a new board like from Diode Dynamics and headlight disassembly.

I have been wondering this as well, it's like they came up with a great looking headlight but didn't follow the trend/styling that other brands have done

I don't think they're concerned with following trends from the other brands. They seem to lean on the side of setting trends for example aluminum bodies. Having said that I do find the LED strips sharp looking but I also find my LED daytime running lights equally sharp.

The solid state relay would work, but you would need one for each signal. If the turn signals are causing the problem, you would need one for each turn signal. Then you could use one and split the wiring to go to both sides for the white running light. So you may be able to get by with 3 total. Thanks!
