Default Learned Something Yesterday

The 2.7L Ecoboost does the stop/start thing? A co-worker asked me about my '15 if it turned off. I was like uh no! They just bought a new 15 for his wife and he said it turned off when stopped and started back up like a golf cart. I said it must be the 2.7L but he wasn't sure.

So I guess the 2.7L does that then huh? Anyone that has it...is it smooth, do you like it?

It isn't smooth per say. You feel it. But it's not bad, just noticable. There's a swtch on the dash to turn it off. Its annoying in bumper to bumper traffic but nice when you are at a long light.

I agree, it's not TERRIBLE, but i only utilize it when at long lights. i usually disable it.

unfortunately this is no DEFAULT disable mode. it is ALWAYS defaulted to ON when you start the vehicle, you have to turn it off every time if you want it off for the duration of that drive.

i could do without, but it's also not a deal breaker

I have the 2.7L Ecoboost and it has the auto start/stop. I'd say it's about on par with Mercedes or BMW in terms of noticeably/feel (not too bad). However, I have noticed at night time the lights seem to dim considerably.

While it does default as "on" each time you start your car (even if you turn it off from the button above the radio the last time you drove), I have learned that if you don't depress the brake hard (just enough to stop) it doesn't engage.

I prefer this management method than to turning it off altogether as if I see a light changing I can just lightly hold the brake, but if a long light I can keep it depressed more firmly.

It sucks in stop and go traffic, and it also sucks at long lights in 100+ weather at long lights when the air conditioner starts blowing hot air.

I want to say I saw some settings for it that can be adjusted, but can't verify

Our 2.7L has it and the 3.5L does not. I drive the 3.5L more, so when the 2.7L does the auto stop start thing, it always surprises me. I'm starting to just turn it off when I get in the truck. Reminds me of the traction control on my 2007 625HP Mustang, the first thing you do it start the car and turn off traction control.

I like the concept a lot. Who doesn't want to save $$'s on gas?

The execution is good - I only notice the engine stop when I have the radio off.

The re-start is incredibly fast on lifting pressure off the brake pedal.

Operation of this feature seems to be phased with pressure on the bake pedal. I have to press harder on the brakes to get the engine to cut. If I am very light on the bakes it does not cut.

I have not tried it yet in hot weather.

Haven't driven a 2.7L EB, but what happens if you slam on the brakes coming to a stop, at what point does the engine shut down?

I leave it on unless I'm in stop and go traffic. It does start back really quick and on hot days if it's been off a while it restarts on its own so you don't get too hot, plus you can control it with brake pressure
