I'll start this with I don't have a lariat F150 but I have the intelligent key system on my explorer so I do use the system routinely.
I vote not listed because I do different methods for different needs.
1) me by myself - lock with fob - unlock with door unless I used remote start.
2) ANY TIME I remote start - lock with fob, unlock with fob
3) me and others - lock with fob - unlock with fob - and often I've remote started too.
More often than not I remote start when it's sat for a period of time or summer heat. (IE months of June though September I'm remote starting to get the AC moving anyway)
Quicker run or temperate weather etc I find I might not remote start and I might unlock with the door handle touch.
I will say this - I know it seems odd but I do use the door code setup probably weekly. In that I need to unlock the car in the driveway to get something out or put something in - I just use the door code.

Regardless of how I unlock it I never use the fob to lock it. That's where you can potentially have the problem of having your frequency stolen and your truck unlocked by the higher tech thieves.

I believe the newer ford's use the 256bit system. The point here - someone that has that level of skill can do much more than just open your car. OH and it's not a 5 minute process either.
Far more concerning is someone stealing your identity and using your mobile or a clone of it and using ford connect to steal your car and make it look like it was used in a felony.
PSA - if you do decide to use mobile apps for things like ford connect - please put a secure lock on your mobile if you don't already.

despite tv and movies it's not 1997 anymore. The rolling code system on your newer cars makes this 2 ticks shy of impossible today. Without knowledge from the manufacturer even if you get the frequency you don't have the 128 or 256 bit encryption key base set to decode the incoming pulse stream to then know what to transmit to the car to tell it to open up.

I leave my keys in the center console. I put one of those black 3M Command hooks below the movable tray and then put the "furry" half of Velcro below the hook to keep the keys from banging around. That way I just lock and unlock with the keypad. I hate carrying around keys. Worst case, if I can't remember if I locked the truck, I use my phone.
Same here.

so 256 real codes to capture the pattern. My point you can't get that with 1 unlock or even 20 unlock commands captured remotely. Or so the story goes.
I might be wrong but 10 years ago when I asked around about this I was told even on 32 bit encryption it's not a 1 minute exercise and you'd have to capture a number of button presses.
Key piece of kit here is the rolling code system - every time you press lock, or unlock, or start, or ect - the fob doesn't transmit the exact same sequence of data. Just like your garage door opener if it's newer than say 2000.
I'll put it to you this way - most paranoid person I know in the IT group of my company uses her car's key fob remote and entry systems. Know what she doesn't use - a smart phone.

As silly as this thread sounds its a legit question lol I dont know what it is with me but im constantly forgetting to lock my truck now even though theres so many options to lock it. Im constantly using the ford app to re lock the truck just in case
