Default Largest Spare Possible?

Anyone have first hand knowledge of the largest spare they have been able to fit in the factory spare mount under the bed? Maybe with or without the heat shield?

Also, do you have to use the steel wheel spare or are you able to put a standard wheel in there? I have 275/65R20s, want to setup a matching spare...

I'm running 315/70 17 on ford factory raptor wheels. I wanted a spare the same size and bought a fifth raptor wheel and tire. The raptor wheel and tire fit in the stock spare holder location with no modification.

I'm running a 285/70 on a Raptor wheel as a spare and it fits just fine. The holder was trickier to fit through the Raptor wheel vs. the OEM spare though.

Now I see a few with 20 in wheels n appropriate tires say its fits. I have 22x9.5 wheel with 305/40-22 tires. I have kept the same circumference (+/- 3%) as stock. Would it be safe to say my stock spare will work?

Why is that? The hole in the center of the wheel is the same size.

The center bore hole is the same size, but the size of the hole for the center cap on the front surface of the wheel is not the same size for every wheel. Here's a picture of the back side of a Raptor wheel from eBay, you can see the center cap is smaller than the center bore hole.

This is the third brain fart I've had this week. Measured the caps on my aftermarket wheels just last weekend to see if they will fit onto the spare tire cable.
