Default Ladder rack 5.5 foot bed

My truck has a backflip hard folding tonneau cover that I want to stay on the truck. I am trying to find a nicer looking rack for my kayaks that will work with that tonneau cover still installed and functional. Does anyone have one that doesnt wrap into the bed and stays on top of the rails? Pics and models if you do. TIA

Try Diamondback covers, they have a rack that runs on tracks that you mount to the cover. The ladder rack will then be removable when needed. I know it works on their heavy duty covers but not sure if you can modify it to work on another. It seems possible.

Hmm, interesting but I want to be able to still utilize the lockable storage and have access to it while utilizing the rack. I also plan on folding the cover up, kayaks on top and bicycles standing in the bed and camper tagging along behind. Truck things ya know

Sounds like you want an Elevate rack that is height adjustable. Does your tonneau have t-slot channels? If not, you'll want t-slot rails that mount into the stake pockets like a Putco Tec Rail, DeeZee Hex Side Rail, Go Rhino...or maybe the Truxedo Elevate TS bed rail.

I have considered these specialized brackets to throw my Canoe on top. Not sure if this idea sparks ideas? https://www.oakorchardcanoe.com/truckrack2.php

Adarac system from AgriCover has the pro series rack that allows a folding cover to operate underneath...

I am still figuring out tonneau covers (soft roll up vs Backflip) and bed rack options myself. With all of the internal back and forth (and there has been a lot of it), I am going to get the Backrack Headache Rack (added bonus of protecting the rear window) and the Tonneau Cover Bracket kit for the front. I think it works with some of the Backflips.

I had this on my Tacoma and made a board (2 2x4’s bolted together with another board (cut to fit between the risers of the Backrack) sandwiched in between) that made the headache rack wider.

For the rear rack, I am looking for something that leverages the stake pockets- easy install, easy removal, at a reasonable price, given how much I use my canoe and kayaks. Does your Backflip cover the stake pockets?

Something like these:

Then find or add something to connect to those.

Hey,

BAK covers generally won't cover the stake pockets... Neither will Lomax or pretty much any of the low profile covers that mount "inside" the bed rails.

Soft rollups will have options such as the Access Covers, Truxedo, etc that are inside mount and allow use of the stake pockets.

Hard rollups like the BAK Revolvers and Truxedo Sentry lines will also allow stake pocket use.

I would look at the hard or soft rollup options harder as hard folding will limit rack options unless you won't ever want to open the cover with the rack on the truck.

We offer great discounts to forum members so feel free to reach out if I can help walk through options or pricing, etc.

My Gator soft roll-up doesn't cover them either. My BullRingUSA pop ups are accessible at all times.
