Default knocking in 5.0

I noticed a knocking in my 2018 5.0.The engine has 1200 miles on it.It was pronounced after a 40mile ride.also noticed a subtle, but high frequency vibration though the gas pedal.Seem to be lacking in power too.Anyone else have this problem on the 2018 5.0?

I have a 17 3.5, but I have a similar issue. Mine has the same miles and shows up after longer rides once the truck is fully up to operating temp. The dealer is claiming its normal noise from high pressure fuel pump. I don't know much about the new 5.0 but if it has the same pump, its possible its the same issue. I'm only equating the two because the symptoms sound to similar. No gas pedal issue for me tho.

I'm waiting on an insulating "noise dampening" cover for the high pressure fuel pump. It was apparently not installed at the factory. Noise is supposedly normal, it's just not supposed to be heard.

Just figured I'd throw this out there. Very unlikely it's the same issue on two entirely different engines, but possible. I'm sure someone with some knowledge on the new 5.0 can chime in on the possibility that the pumps are the similar.

Coming from GM trucks this is pretty common in them. Is this noise like metal to metal knock or like a ticking in the valvetrain?

I have the same issue too with mine. Dealer states that this is normal. Even noticed in the owners manual that it says:

" Do not be concerned if the engine sometimes knocks lightly. However, if the engine knocks heavily while using fuel with the recommended octane rating, contact an authorized dealer to prevent any engine damage."

Not sure what grade fuel you use (I use normal 87 octane), but wonder if using higher octane gas would make a difference?

hey bro - I'd take it in and have the truck flashed with the update. I did mine and no problems since. Do you have any CELs? Id still take it in and tell them you are experiencing lack of power, bad mpgs, etc. There is a thread here somewhere about the update. Its only for the 2018 5,0's . Good luck,.

Enjoy your truck and drive it. The internet is a blessing and a curse. If it wasn't for googling "5.0 engine knock" or "ecoboost problems" most people wouldn't think twice about the noises their engine makes. All engines make noise and it maybe a sound unique to that engine but when you're not used to it may seem odd or abnormal. Your engine has 32 valves, 8 pistons and 4 cam shafts all moving and working and in the 2018 16 fuel injectors clicking. The noise you are hearing is probably normal and if it's not there is the warranty.

Thanks for the info.I am taking it in Saturday and see if they find anything or reflash with the updates being it was built before nov.'17.The only reason it concerns me is it just started today,if it had been doing it from the beginning,it wouldn't bother me.Oh,it hasn't thrown any codes

That is more for when the engine is under load (detonation). At idle it doesn't really matter because the engine isn't under load.

I have a 2018 5.0, and it does have a slight knock at idle only, but most 5.0's knock a bit at idle so I'm not worried.
