Default Knock sensor replacement

Dealer says knock sensor is bad or wires were chewed on my 2017 F150 3.5 Eco Boost with very low miles. How much on average should that cost to repair? I do have extended warranty but think they are high saying 1200 bucks to do the job? Any info is appreciated.

At least two sensors are located under the intake manifold.
You can guess from there what is involved in gaskets, other parts, disconnects, re-hook up and labor time.

As stated, the intake manifold must be removed to access the sensors. This requires draining the cooling system so there is a fair amount of work and miscellaneous parts involved.

Since you just curious, sounds reasonable 9 hours labor @120/hr plus parts. You could always go to an independent shop and ask about their cost, to see what the warranty saved you.

That's a known issue, I've had mine replaced on my 15', wiring and sensors. I payed the $100 deductible from my EW.

Sounds like a dealer. I bought a CPO ‘17 EB and the check engine light turned on after a few months. I said to myself, “I’ve got an extended warranty, I’ll take it to the dealer”. They called me a few hrs later and asked for $700, stating that the cam position sensor wires were chewed through and the warranty didn’t cover it. When I said I expected the old harness back, they said they wouldn’t be replacing the harness, just repairing it. At that I retrieved the truck and repaired it myself for an hours labor. Of course, the cam sensors are on top of the engine, under the beauty cover.

Excellent Ford dealer really helped me out in that the wires were chewed through as I saw the pictures. Bastads built a nest down there!!! Grrrrr... That repair wasn't covered under my extended warranty but they took care of me. Cost me 150 bucks out of pocket which included a new air filter so I was happy. I didn't buy the truck from them but they really worked with me to keep the cost down. I saw how much labor went into the repairs and it would have been darn expensive out of pocket. So I got lucky with a real good dealership.

Hansel Ford in Santa Rosa Dealer wants $3500 - A dealership insurance ripoff? I watched a YouTube video and you need to take a lot of layers off the engine but $3500 -s absurd. Thoughts? This sounds like high end attorney fee labor costs!
